I am in shock

One of my best friends has just died.

For those of you who knew sharonmarais, her husband, John just called me to tell me of her death and ask me to let people in fandom know.

She had the bug that all of us have been fighting off. Felt a little better and returned to work (in a hospital no less) and then felt really horrid on Thursday night. She went to the docs, who told her it was just a virus and to go home and rest.

It was meningitis, and it killed her. She died yesterday at 2:15pm UK time in the hospital at Cambridge.

OMG.
I knew her...not personally or closely, might have exchanged just a handful of comments, but we ran in similar circles....am shocked.
Brit docs, sometimes, can be really dangerous, they underestimate lots of things. I'm shocked and angry. :((((

I've known her for years. She'd come stay here in Vancouver with me, and I'd go home and stay in Cambridge with her. We spent last May stalking Steve, Jason and Riley around England, and this November she came over here to stalk Jensen and Jared. I will miss her soooo much.

I didn't know Sharon very well, hadn't talked with her in quite a while, but we were part of the same yahoo group (for baking and cooking and recipes, a group called 'well-loved-recipes' on yahoo) and she had just sent a message to us a couple weeks ago, a Christmas card. She was so kind and thoughtful. A great and lovely lady.

Oh, my god, that's just absolutely terrible. Ruric just passed the message on. I am so very very sorry, I didn't know her very well but I thought she seemed such a lovely warm person.

I can't believe this. She's always been such a supporter of my writing, and such a positive person, even after her car accident. I know she loved Vancouver with you this year. This has made me so sad. Can you pass on my love and sadness to her family...and if there's an address for cards, please let me know.
