Lest We Forget

I don't usually get personal, but I am feeling particularly emotional today.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
I wish the image were bigger, but I couldn't find a bigger one. I am posting this in memory of Squadron Leader F. J. Gow. Rest in peace, Dad. I miss you so much.

Date: 2011-11-12 05:24 am (UTC)We had two minutes silence at the shopping centre I was shopping in yesterday. It was veryyyy moving since there was a military last post bugle call and parade of old WW2 veterans, there's less and less of them taking part every year. Some people in the crowd were crying and everyone applauded the veterans.

Date: 2011-11-12 05:37 am (UTC)Here, there is a naval base across the inlet from my office, and they fired the cannon every minute for a half hour, and then there was a flypast.
My Dad was a veteran who marched on Remembrance day until he died last year. It really came home to me today. I'm glad that people do remember. They should.
