Steve has won Best Male Artist for the 2012 LA Music Critic Awards, for "Different Town." He deserves it, and my heartiest congratulations go to him.

It is a really excellent album, as you say, even without the worship. The man is developing into a truly excellent composer. Each of his albums has been better than the last, and the first one was pretty damned good!

I'm a fan, what can I say.

I am excited for it, with or without Jensen, because I do love Steve's music, and it's an awesome album, but I'd love it to feature Jensen too. Double the joy!

long time coming for steve. :D (i know i am most likely biased because i'm only seeing things as a fan of SPN but seems to me steve lives in jensen's shadow)

Heaven knows why. I guess he has done since he started playing cons. I confess to being one of the people who lobbied Gary and Adam hard to let him play that first Chicago con, and they took forever to persuade, so in a way I guess it's my fault, but he does have one heck of a following away from spn fandom, especially in Europe. If he's living in anyone's shadow, I'd say it was that of Chris Kane, and frankly Steve's music beats Chris's hands down.

so steve has YOU to thank for his "newfound" fame then. so were you lobbying for him to perform at other creation cons - as in star trek - prior to chicon? or just lobbied once chicon was announced...?

at least steve is able to claim his fame, afterall! (see? told ya i know nada outside of SPN).

No others. We lobbied for Steve to sing at Chicago because of the tie-in with Jensen, and the fact that they'd used one of his songs in the soundtrack. (In the hopes, too, that Jensen might join him onstage as much as anything.) Sadly it was not to be, but he sounded great that night and did build his fan base because a lot of the con goers hadn't ever heard him before.

Well, Nick Brendan did add a small amount of humour to the situation. I am still sad that Jensen didn't get up and sing, but I was pretty overjoyed at Steve's performance.

nick brendan was hilalarious. i had no clue who he was then. i remember seeing him enter the lobby that thursday night (in that weird getup) - who knew he was in character for his role in criminal minds and to date, he still looks that way. lol

Did you not hear about his episode during Steve's gig? He went to join the J's, and the security thought he was a tramp, because he was looking unkempt and a little liquored up. They bounced him and marched him out of the concert, and that's why he refused to come on stage the next day!
